Cameras or a guard — the honest costing
A 4-camera system costs about two months of one guard's salary in Islamabad, then runs for years on a maintenance plan from PKR 15,000 a year. A guard can challenge and respond; cameras cannot. Shops and homes usually get better value from cameras; yards and societies with real intrusion risk pair a guard with cameras.

Three-year money
An installed 4-camera package at PKR 55,000–85,000 plus annual maintenance is a one-time cost with a small tail. A guard is a salary every month, twelve months a year, with Eid bonuses and replacements when he leaves. Over three years the guard costs well over ten times the camera system — which is why the question is really about response, not price.
What a camera cannot do
Step out, challenge a stranger at the gate, or call the police while something is still happening. Housing societies, transport yards and construction sites in the twin cities keep guards for exactly that reason. What cameras add there is coverage of everything one man cannot watch — the back boundary, the stock rows, the gate log at 4 a.m. when attention fades.
The pairing that actually works
One guard plus cameras beats two guards at most sites. Give the guard a monitor at the gate, put cameras on the blind sides, and set motion alerts on the boundary for the hours between rounds. Several industrial units in I-9 and I-10 run exactly this arrangement: the monthly salary bill stays flat while the effective coverage of the site roughly doubles.
Is CCTV cheaper than hiring a security guard?
Can cameras fully replace our night guard?
For a locked premises with remote viewing and alerts, often yes. For open yards with material lying out, no — footage of a theft is not the same as preventing one.
Do guards make cameras unnecessary?
No. Disputes about what the guard saw, gaps during breaks and prayer times, and gate-log arguments are all solved by a recorded timeline, not by adding a second shift.
Rather have it done?
Business CCTV is built around the counter, the entrance, the stock area and the back door, with storage long enough to catch problems you only notice at stocktake. Systems for Islamabad marts, pharmacies, schools and offices start at PKR 85,000, and can tie into access control and your point of sale.
