CCTV for housing societies
A housing society needs the main gate with number-plate capture, the barrier line, the two or three weakest boundary stretches, common areas and a guard-room monitoring hub. Most committee questions start with which vehicle entered, so the gate plate log — kept 30–60 days — is the core of the system.

The plate log answers most questions
A dedicated plate camera on the entry lane, logging every vehicle with a timestamp, is the single most useful thing a society can buy. In the gated schemes off the Expressway and Adiala Road, incidents get reconstructed from that log far more often than from any scene camera, which is why it is specified first.
Boundary by survey, not by metre
No society can put a camera on every metre of wall and none needs to. The survey — free across Islamabad and Rawalpindi — identifies the low, dark and sheltered stretches where crossings actually happen and covers those with paired cameras and lighting. Three well-chosen boundary positions outperform a dozen spread evenly.
The guard room and the committee
Monitors sit with the guards on view-only rights; committee members get individual remote logins; export stays with named office-bearers. When the committee changes, the account list changes the same week — recorders still carrying logins from two committees ago are the commonest fault we find in societies. Barrier automation against a plate whitelist can ride the same gate infrastructure.
What CCTV does a housing society need?
Can the barrier open automatically for residents?
Yes — a whitelisted plate can raise it, with a fob or keypad fallback for visitors and failed reads. The barrier motor and the plate camera are specified together at survey so the timing works.
What does a society gate system cost?
Plate capture with an 8-camera core starts around PKR 145,000, before barrier motors. Committees usually phase it: gate and guard room first, boundary positions in the next budget year.
Rather have it done?
Business CCTV is built around the counter, the entrance, the stock area and the back door, with storage long enough to catch problems you only notice at stocktake. Systems for Islamabad marts, pharmacies, schools and offices start at PKR 85,000, and can tie into access control and your point of sale.
