Fiber or wireless internet
Take fiber wherever it genuinely reaches your street — it is faster, far more stable, and unaffected by weather or how many neighbours are on the same tower. Wireless is the right answer only where fiber has not arrived, and in parts of Bahria and the newer societies that is still the honest position.

The difference that shows up daily
Fiber gives a consistent, low-latency connection that behaves the same at nine in the morning and nine at night. Wireless shares a tower's capacity with everyone else on it, so evening performance degrades exactly when households need it. That contention pattern is more noticeable in daily use than any headline speed figure.
Upload is where the gap is widest
Wireless connections are typically far more asymmetric than fiber, and upload is what carries a video call, a backup, or footage from a camera recorder. A connection that downloads well and uploads poorly feels broken during a meeting while testing acceptably, which is why upload deserves more attention than it usually gets.
Coverage maps are optimistic
Providers advertise wider coverage than is actually live on any given street. The only reliable check is what is genuinely connected nearby, and in newer societies the honest answer is sometimes that fiber is a year away. Where that is the case, a good wireless connection now beats waiting for fiber that has not been laid.
What wireless does better
It installs in days rather than weeks, needs no civil work, and moves with you. For a temporary site office, a short lease, or a premises awaiting a fiber build, that is a genuine advantage rather than a consolation. It is a legitimate choice made knowingly, not a fallback to apologise for.

How do I find out if fiber is available on my street?
Ask neighbours and nearby shops what they actually use, which is more reliable than any coverage map. Then ask each provider to confirm the specific address rather than the area. Two providers genuinely live on a street is common; the five that advertise it is not.
Is wireless internet good enough for working from home?
Often yes for browsing and email, and it is the upload that decides video calls. A wireless connection with weak upload will drop your video while the download side tests fine. If your work depends on calls or on pushing files up, check the upload figure specifically before committing.
Does weather affect wireless internet?
Heavy rain degrades some wireless technologies noticeably, and monsoon storms are the usual test. Fiber is unaffected — it is glass in a duct. If a connection reliably worsens when it rains, that is a fair reason to move to fiber once it is available on your street.
Rather have it done?
Getting fiber into a building means checking which providers actually reach your street, running the drop from the pole or duct to a proper termination point, and handing over a connection that works on your own equipment. Internal work runs PKR 12,000 to 45,000, separate from whatever the ISP charges.
