What getting fiber into a building costs

Our internal work runs PKR 12,000 to 45,000 — attending the ISP install, terminating properly, and configuring a router. The ISP's own connection charge and monthly subscription are separate and paid directly to them. Splicing a damaged run is PKR 3,500 per splice with an OTDR trace.

Two bills, and they get confused

One is the ISP's connection charge and monthly subscription, which is theirs. The other is the internal work — entry route, termination enclosure, internal cabling and router configuration. A quote that blends them is a quote you cannot check, and it is worth asking which of the two you are looking at.

What the low end of our range covers

PKR 12,000 covers attending the ISP appointment, confirming the ONT is properly terminated rather than taped to a wall, testing the line speed before their van leaves, and configuring a router you already own. It is a supervision and configuration job rather than an installation one.

What takes it to the top of the range

A termination enclosure, an internal cable run to where the router should actually live, and a supplied router. On any premises larger than a flat that internal run is what makes the connection usable, because an ONT in the corner of a hallway with a router balanced on top of it is not a network.

Splicing, when a run is damaged

PKR 3,500 per splice inside Islamabad or Rawalpindi including the OTDR trace, which locates the break to within a couple of metres before anything is opened and proves the join afterwards with a printed dB figure. Multi-core enclosures are quoted per core at a reducing rate.

How much does a fiber internet connection cost to set up?

Can you make the ISP install faster?

No, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What we change is the number of failed visits — most delays we see come from a crew arriving to find no entry route, no power at the termination point, or nobody with keys. Having that ready turns three appointments into one.

Do I need to pay you if the ISP does the installation?

Not necessarily — plenty of people take the ISP's basic install and stop there. What that install does not include is a considered entry route, a proper termination enclosure, an internal run to where the router should live, or testing before the crew leaves. Those are what the internal figure buys.

Is the ISP's router good enough?

For a one-bedroom flat, adequate. For anything larger it is the weakest link — limited range, few concurrent devices, firmware nobody updates. Keeping it as the modem and putting a proper router behind it is usually the single cheapest improvement to a slow home network.

Rather have it done?

Getting fiber into a building means checking which providers actually reach your street, running the drop from the pole or duct to a proper termination point, and handing over a connection that works on your own equipment. Internal work runs PKR 12,000 to 45,000, separate from whatever the ISP charges.
