Fault-finding
The speed test looks fine but everything feels slow
A speed test measures one big transfer to one nearby server. Everyday use is dozens of small simultaneous connections, and that is where a cheap router runs out of session capacity long before it runs out of bandwidth. The symptom is exactly this: good numbers, sticky experience.

Count devices, not people
A twelve-person office is rarely twelve devices. Laptops, phones, a printer, cameras, a recorder, a till and a handful of smart plugs put forty or more sessions on the router. Most 'the internet is slow' callouts we attend end at a router out of session capacity, not at a line short of bandwidth.
Test the difference yourself
Run a speed test while the office is quiet, then again at peak. If the number holds but the experience does not, the line is fine and the bottleneck is in the building. If the number collapses too, the line or the ISP is genuinely involved and that is a ticket rather than a repair.
Latency matters more than throughput for daily work
Video calls, remote desktops and web applications care about how quickly a small packet completes a round trip, not how fast a large file transfers. A connection with good throughput and poor latency feels broken while testing perfectly, and buffer bloat under load is a common cause that no speed test reports.
Then look at what is saturating it
A backup syncing, a large update downloading, a security camera uploading continuously, or one machine seeding something. A managed switch or a router with per-device statistics shows this in a minute. On an unmanaged network there is no way to see it, which is one of the practical arguments for a managed switch.
Why is my internet slow when the speed test is good?
The ISP says the line is fine. Are they right?
Usually yes, and that is the frustrating part. They can only see up to their equipment, and their tests genuinely pass. The fault is almost always past that point — the router, the WiFi coverage, or a device saturating the connection. Accepting that early saves several pointless calls.
Would a faster package fix it?
Rarely, and it is the most commonly mis-sold upgrade in this market. If the current package's speed test already passes, buying more bandwidth adds headroom you were not using. The money is far better spent on a capable router, and the difference is immediate rather than theoretical.
How many devices can a normal router handle?
Far fewer simultaneous sessions than its specification implies, and the cheap ones fail first. Rather than trusting a number, watch whether performance degrades as more devices come online. That pattern — fine in the morning, sticky by midday — is the router telling you it is at its limit.
Rather have it done?
This is the equipment the whole network depends on: a router that routes, a managed switch that can be diagnosed, and a firewall with rules someone wrote deliberately. A small-office set installed and configured runs PKR 45,000 to 150,000, sized to how many devices you actually run.
