Blows air, no cooling
Usually
Refrigerant lost through a slow leak, or coils blocked solid with dirt
Half the summer callouts in Islamabad are this one, and a deep clean settles a good share of them on the spot.
Typical cost
PKR 4,000 – 14,000
AC repair
Eight symptoms cover nearly every AC breakdown we attend in the twin cities. Find yours below for the usual cause and the typical fitted price. Diagnosis costs nothing, and the figure is fixed before a screwdriver comes out.
Usually
Refrigerant lost through a slow leak, or coils blocked solid with dirt
Half the summer callouts in Islamabad are this one, and a deep clean settles a good share of them on the spot.
Typical cost
PKR 4,000 – 14,000
Usually
Capacitor gone, contactor pitted, or a seized fan motor
Voltage dips are hard on capacitors — the cheapest fix on this page, and the most common.
Typical cost
PKR 3,500 – 10,000
Usually
Choked drain line, or the unit sitting slightly off level
Monsoon weeks produce far more condensate, which is why this call spikes every July.
Typical cost
PKR 3,000 – 6,000
Usually
Overheating outdoor unit, low charge, or a tired temperature sensor
Look at the outdoor unit first: boxed into a plaza light-well or facing the full western sun, it has nowhere to dump heat.
Typical cost
PKR 4,000 – 17,000
Usually
Fan blade catching, loose bracket bolts, or compressor mounts going
A rattle is small money. A deepening growl from the compressor rarely is — do not sit on that one.
Typical cost
PKR 3,000 – 22,000
Usually
Low gas, or starved airflow across the indoor coil
Switch it off and let it thaw before anyone opens it. Running it iced up grinds the compressor.
Typical cost
PKR 4,500 – 16,000
Usually
Compressor pulling locked-rotor current, chafed wiring, or an undersized breaker
The one symptom on this page where continuing to use the unit risks real damage, or a fire.
Typical cost
Diagnosis first — stop resetting it
Usually
Receiver eye, or the indoor control board
Point the remote at your phone camera and press a button — if the LED flashes on screen, the remote is fine and the unit is not.
Typical cost
PKR 7,000 – 20,000
Finding the fault costs you nothing. Given how many of these turn out to be a small part, that is worth a lot.
The figure is settled before the casing comes off. Nobody rings you halfway through asking for more.
If the fix costs more than the unit justifies, we tell you so and point you at the alternatives instead of taking the job.
Diagnosis is free. The everyday faults — capacitors, choked drains, fan motors, sensors — mostly land between PKR 3,000 and 17,000 fitted. The compressor is the expensive exception, and is often the moment to price a replacement unit instead of a repair.
It depends entirely on what failed. A capacitor or a fan motor on an old unit: fix it without hesitation. A compressor on the same unit: usually not — that money works harder in a new or checked reconditioned split, and we say so at the diagnosis rather than after taking the job.
Same day across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahria Town in most cases — we run from the H-15 workshop and the highways keep drive times short. In the very hottest weeks every diary in the twin cities fills up, which is the whole argument for a spring service instead of a June callout.
Yes, boards and sensors included. Inverter PCB faults are quoted after bench testing, and where a replacement board costs more than it is worth against the age of the unit, we tell you that instead of fitting one regardless.
