A reconditioned split from around PKR 55,000 is either sound value or a stranger's problem with a fresh coat of cleaning — and which one depends entirely on what was tested before it changed hands. This is the list we work through on every unit we sell. Take it with you wherever you end up buying.
The bench list, in the order we run it

Compressor start-up current
A compressor near the end pulls hard on start. The clamp meter knows before your ears do.

Suction and discharge pressures under load
Ten minutes of cold air proves nothing. The gauges show whether the system genuinely holds its charge.

Standing pressure held overnight
Slow leaks pass a quick test and fail a night on the gauge, so we give every unit the night.

Both coils inspected fin by fin
Corrosion is the one fault no cleaning undoes. A rotted condenser is a reject, not a repair.

Fan motors run and heard out
Bearing whine at the bench is a dead motor by August. Cheap to sort now, not later.

Every mode on the control board
Boards fail one function at a time, so we cycle cool, dry, fan and timer — not just cool.

Capacitors renewed on principle
The part most likely to strand a used unit in its first season with you, and too cheap not to replace.

Drain tray and line cleared
Most trade-ins arrive dirty from years of skipped services. None leave that way.

Full strip-down clean of both units
Coils, blower wheel, housings. This is the bulk of the reconditioning labour, and the part you can smell.

Gas charged by nameplate weight
On the scale, to the figure the manufacturer printed — not by feel on the suction line.

Age and works written on the invoice
Year of manufacture and every part replaced, in ink. Ask any seller for the same.
Questions about used units
Is a used AC a sensible buy in Islamabad?
For a room cooled June to August — a guest room, a seasonal bedroom — usually yes. Checked units start around PKR 55,000 against PKR 105,000 fitted for new, and that gap buys a lot of forgiveness. For the main room running all season, inverter running costs swing the sum back towards new.
What should I inspect before buying second-hand?
Listen to the compressor start, ask for gauge readings rather than ten minutes of cold air, look closely at the condenser fins for corrosion, and ask the year of manufacture. The list on this page is exactly what we run on our own stock — use it on any seller, including us.
Is there a warranty on a reconditioned unit?
A written workmanship warranty on our reconditioning and installation, with the exact coverage stated on the invoice. There is no manufacturer warranty on a used compressor, and anyone promising one is describing a warranty that does not exist.
Will you take my old unit in part exchange?
Usually, yes — working or not, an old split has value in parts and recovered gas, and we price it against the unit you are buying. The balance can go through bank transfer, Easypaisa or JazzCash, whichever suits.
