CCTV for software houses

The server room is the crown jewel
Client code, backups and the fibre termination live in one small room, so that door gets a camera and an access reader logging entries by name. On the network, but not on the LAN
A software house has good switches and better engineers, and the temptation is to hang cameras off the office LAN. Keep them on their own PoE switch and VLAN instead, with only the recorder bridging. Cameras are the least-patched devices in any building, and no development team wants them adjacent to production credentials.
Night shifts change the priorities
Teams matching US and UK hours leave the building at two and three in the morning, so the parking area and the gate approach need proper night coverage and lighting — for staff safety more than for theft.
