Access control: doors that know who is allowed through

An access control system replaces keys with cards, fingerprints, faces or PINs, and lets you decide per person which doors open and during which hours. Every opening is logged with a name and time, and when someone leaves the company their access dies in seconds — no locksmith, no re-keying.

Why offices outgrow keys

Islamabad's software houses and NGOs see steady staff turnover, and every departure with a metal key forces a choice between changing the lock and trusting luck. A card or fingerprint is cancelled from a desk in under a minute. The rooms that justify the spend first are the ones with concentrated risk: the server room, the accounts office, the store holding stock or equipment.

Choosing the credential

Fingerprints cannot be lent to a colleague, which is why they double as honest attendance. They struggle with worn, wet or dusty fingertips, so kitchens, workshops and site offices do better with cards or face readers. Most systems we fit in offices use two credentials per door — say fingerprint plus PIN — so a failed read never leaves a manager locked out at eight in the morning.

Locks, power cuts and fire routes

The lock type is the safety-critical line in the specification. Fail-secure locks stay locked when power drops; fail-safe locks release. Escape routes must release, while a server room usually should not, and a small UPS on the controller keeps doors behaving normally through routine outages instead of defaulting at every dip. We settle each door's behaviour at survey and write it into the quote.

How does an access control system work?

Can the same system do staff attendance?

Yes — the reader at the door already records who arrived when, and that log exports to a payroll sheet. For many small offices the attendance saving is what pays for the doors.

What happens if the controller fails?

Doors follow their configured fail state and mechanical override keys still work — we always leave a physical fallback on critical doors. Controllers themselves are long-lived; the batteries and locks are the service items.

Rather have it done?

Business CCTV is built around the counter, the entrance, the stock area and the back door, with storage long enough to catch problems you only notice at stocktake. Systems for Islamabad marts, pharmacies, schools and offices start at PKR 85,000, and can tie into access control and your point of sale.
