Adding cameras to an existing system
Usually yes — up to the recorder's channel count, which is the limit people forget. A 4-channel recorder takes four cameras, full stop. Beyond channels, check two more ceilings before buying anything: spare capacity in the power supply or PoE switch, and hard-drive space, because every added camera shortens retention.

Count free channels before buying cameras
Open the recorder's channel list. If every slot is taken, the path forward is a larger 8- or 16-channel recorder, not a fifth camera sitting in its box. Many recorders also cap total incoming bandwidth, so a handful of extra 4MP IP cameras can exceed the recorder's limit even when spare channels physically exist. Check both numbers before any money changes hands — the recorder is usually the real constraint.
Check power and storage headroom
A supply or PoE switch running near its limit accepts new cameras happily all day and drops them at night when the infra-red load peaks, so budget the wattage honestly. On storage, going from four cameras to eight on the same drive halves your recorded history. A larger drive belongs in the same job as the new cameras, not in a surprised phone call three months later.
Do the whole addition in one visit
Cable pulling is the labour, and labour is most of the bill. Adding two cameras in a single visit costs meaningfully less than two separate single-camera visits fought through twin-city traffic. The sensible sequence: survey — free anywhere in Islamabad and Rawalpindi — confirm channels, power and storage on paper, then run all the new cable and commission everything in one day.
