What solar batteries cost, and what they buy you
A lithium bank sized for a household essential load starts near PKR 320,000 installed with a hybrid inverter, and capacity scales close to linearly above that. Lead-acid costs roughly half to buy and, once cycle life and replacement are counted over ten years, usually more to own.

The number that decides the price
Battery cost follows usable kilowatt-hours, not the label on the box. Lithium safely gives most of its rated capacity every cycle; lead-acid gives roughly half before you start shortening its life sharply. So a lead-acid bank has to be about twice the nameplate capacity to deliver the same usable energy, which closes most of the apparent price gap before cycle life is even considered.
Costing it over ten years, not at the counter
Take the installed price and divide by the usable kWh multiplied by the realistic cycle count in this climate. Lithium's higher purchase price is spread over several times as many cycles. The comparison that flatters lead-acid is the one made at the counter; the comparison that matters is made across the decade you will own the system.
Heat is a cost, not a footnote
Battery life here is decided largely by temperature. A bank in a ventilated, shaded position gets close to its rated life; the same bank in a sealed cupboard on a west-facing wall spends every summer derating and ages years faster. Siting is free at installation and expensive to correct afterwards, so it belongs in the buying decision rather than the fitting one.
How much capacity you actually need
Multiply the essential load — lights, fans, a fridge, the router, typically a few hundred watts — by the hours you need to cover. That is a modest bank. Add an air conditioner to the backed-up circuit and the same battery lasts minutes instead of hours, which is why splitting the board matters more to the final bill than the battery brand does.

Is lithium worth roughly double the purchase price?
For a bank that cycles daily, yes — it delivers more usable capacity per rated kWh, survives many more cycles, and tolerates this climate better. Lead-acid still makes sense for a system that cycles rarely, such as pure outage backup used a few times a month, where the cycle-life advantage never gets spent.
Can I add batteries to my system later?
Only if the inverter was hybrid-capable when it was bought. If it was not, adding storage means replacing the inverter as well, which is why buying a hybrid inverter up front costs far less than buying two inverters. Mixing new cells into an aged bank is also poor practice — the old cells drag the new ones down.
How long before a battery needs replacing?
A properly sized, properly ventilated lithium bank gives many years of daily cycling. The same bank run hot, or routinely discharged deeper than it should be, gives a fraction of that. Both variables are installation and sizing choices rather than product choices, which is why we spend time on siting and on the essential-load split.
