Solar for a shop or mart

Why the economics are better here
A shop trading from morning to evening consumes its own generation directly, which saves at your marginal tariff rather than earning the lower export credit. That difference is significant, and it is why the same array pays back faster over a mart than over a house whose occupants are out until six.
Refrigeration is the load that decides sizing
Chillers and freezers in a general store or a pharmacy run continuously through the hot months and dominate the bill. Meter them rather than estimating. A system sized around lighting and fans while ignoring the cold chain will underperform badly against expectations in exactly the season it was bought for.
The roof you can actually use
A shop in a markaz plaza usually has no exclusive roof, which is the practical obstacle rather than the economics. A standalone shop or a mart with its own building is straightforward. Where the roof is shared, the conversation is with building management first and about equipment second.
Backup for trading, not comfort
For a shop the value of a battery is that the till, the lights and the chillers keep running through an outage — trading continues instead of stopping. That is a commercial calculation rather than a comfort one, and it usually justifies a bank that a household would consider excessive.

Can solar run my shop's freezers overnight?
Only with a battery sized for it, and cold-chain loads are demanding because compressors cycle through the night. Many shops find the better answer is a bank covering the freezers and the till through typical outage lengths rather than the full night, with the array recharging it through the following day.
I rent my shop. Is solar still worth it?
The array only makes sense with a long lease or a landlord contributing, since it stays with the building. The inverter and battery move with you, so many shopkeepers buy those first for trading continuity and add panels if and when they secure a longer lease or their own premises.
Will it cover my whole electricity bill?
Rarely entirely, because fixed charges and taxes do not scale with units saved, and evening trading draws from the grid or the battery. A materially reduced bill is the realistic outcome. Shops usually see a larger reduction than households on the same array because more generation is consumed live.
