Wireless CCTV replaces the data cable, not the power cable — nearly every camera still needs a supply at its position. It shines where cabling is blocked: a rented plaza unit where the landlord refuses chasing, a courtyard crossing, two buildings on one plot. Where a cable can go, a cable wins.

Where it genuinely helps in the twin cities
Rented shops are the big one — plaza landlords and CDA-lease building owners often refuse wall chasing, and a wireless link avoids the argument entirely. It also suits a guard cabin at a villa gate, a camera across a courtyard, or two buildings on one plot, where a point-to-point wireless bridge costs far less than trenching a duct between them.
Interference is the tax
Dense apartment blocks and the E-11 high-rises crowd the 2.4 GHz band with dozens of routers, and a link that tested clean at install can degrade the week a neighbour adds equipment. Using 5 GHz gear, mounting antennas with clear line of sight, and checking the spectrum at survey are what keep a wireless system out of the call-out log.
Battery cameras are a niche, not a system
Fully wire-free battery cameras record on motion only and someone has to remember the charging rota, so they suit a temporary position or one awkward corner rather than whole-premises coverage. For anything protecting real value — a stock room, a counter, a boundary with history — the dependable answer is still a wired run, and we will say so at survey.
Is wireless CCTV any good?
Will wireless cameras slow my internet?
Recording happens on your local network, not your internet line, so daily use costs you nothing noticeable. Remote viewing does spend upload bandwidth, and several phones streaming at once will show on a modest connection.
Is wireless safe enough for a boundary camera?
Interference and deliberate jamming are both real, if uncommon. For high-risk positions we recommend cable; where wireless is unavoidable, the system should alert you when a camera drops offline rather than fail silently.
