Plan points from the furniture, not the floor plan
We walk the office with the seating layout and mark where outlets go relative to where desks actually sit. Points planned from a drawing end up behind a cupboard, and the cost of adding one later is several times the cost of putting it in now.
One rack, one patch panel, one route
Every run terminates on a patch panel in a single rack with the switch above it. Cable goes in tray or conduit on a planned route, kept clear of mains runs, respecting bend radius and the 90-metre limit that decides whether a far corner needs its own cabinet.
Terminate and certify every point
Both ends terminated to standard, then every point tested with a certifier and the result recorded. A visual check and a working laptop is not a test — plenty of badly terminated points pass traffic at 100Mbps and fail at gigabit, which is a fault that appears months later under load.
Label at both ends and hand over the schedule
Outlet, patch panel port and cable all carry the same number, and you get the schedule as a document. This is the difference between a five-minute and a two-hour fault-find in a year's time.
What the price covers. PKR 4,500 per point is a realistic twenty-point office on Cat6 with surface trunking, including outlet, patch panel port, testing and labelling. Long runs, chased walls or a finished building with difficult routes take it toward PKR 7,000. Rack, switch and patch leads are quoted separately.

Questions people ask
Why cable at all when the office has WiFi?
Because WiFi shares one medium and cable does not. Desks that move data all day, the till, the recorder, printers and access points themselves all belong on cable — every device you take off the air makes the WiFi better for the ones that stay. An office with everything on WiFi degrades at exactly the hour everyone is working.
Cat6 or Cat6a — which should I pay for?
Cat6 for a normal office; it carries gigabit over the full 90 metres and 10-gigabit over shorter runs, which covers everything most offices will do this decade. Cat6a costs more, is stiffer, harder to route in existing trunking, and pays back only where 10-gigabit to the desk is a real plan rather than a hope.
We rent this floor. Is it worth cabling?
Usually yes, and it is cheaper than people expect. Surface trunking comes off cleanly at the end of a lease and landlords rarely object to it — what they object to is chased walls. The rack and switch move with you; only the cable stays, and a floor that is already cabled is easier to sublet anyway.
