AC servicing and gas refilling in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

A service is a deep clean of both coils, the filters and the drain, plus a set of measurements that show whether the unit is actually healthy. Servicing starts at PKR 3,000, and gas refilling starts at PKR 6,000 — but a unit needing gas has a leak, and refilling without finding it is a yearly bill, not a repair.

Measure before cleaning

Running current, suction pressure and the temperature difference across the indoor coil, taken before anything is touched. Those three numbers tell us whether we are dealing with dirt, a gas problem or a failing compressor — and cleaning first destroys the evidence.

Deep clean both coils and the drain

Indoor coil and blower wheel washed properly rather than wiped, filters cleaned, and the outdoor condenser washed through — that one is usually thick with the dust every twin-cities summer produces and is the commonest single cause of poor cooling. The drain is flushed and tested with water.

If gas is low, find the leak

Refrigerant is not consumed. A unit low on gas is leaking, and the usual places are the flare joints, the service valves and the coil. We pressure-test and trace it. Where a customer wants a top-up anyway to get through a season, we do it and say in writing that it is a stopgap, not a fix.

Re-measure and leave the figures

The same three measurements after the work, written on the service record. A service that improves nothing measurable was a wash, and you should be able to see the difference in numbers rather than take it on trust.

What the price covers. PKR 3,000 covers a full service of one split unit inside Islamabad or Rawalpindi. Gas refilling starts at PKR 6,000 for R410a and varies with the gas type and how much the system takes — R22 costs more per charge. Leak repair at a flare or valve is quoted separately once located, usually PKR 2,500 to 6,000.

Included on every visit

  • Running current, pressure and coil temperature difference measured before work
  • Indoor coil, blower wheel and filters deep-cleaned
  • Outdoor condenser washed through
  • Drain flushed and water-tested
  • Leak test where gas is low, with the leak located
  • Post-service measurements recorded
  • Written service record you keep

Questions people ask

My AC needs gas every year. Is that normal?

No. Refrigerant is a sealed charge, not a consumable — a system that loses it annually has a leak that nobody has looked for. The usual suspects are flare joints made badly at installation, worn service valve cores, or a corroded coil. Paying for gas every summer is more expensive over three years than finding the leak once.

How often should a unit be serviced here?

Once before the season starts is the minimum in the twin cities, and twice — spring and after the monsoon — is better for a unit running daily. Our dust load is high and the outdoor condenser clogs quickly; a blocked condenser makes the compressor work harder for less cooling and shortens its life measurably.

Is cooling worse because it needs gas, or because it is dirty?

Dirty, far more often. A clogged condenser or a filthy indoor coil produces exactly the same complaint as low gas, and gets misdiagnosed constantly — sometimes deliberately, because gas is a chargeable item and cleaning is labour. That is why we measure current and pressure before touching anything: those readings distinguish the two.
