The laptop will not turn on at all
No light, no fan, nothing. Check the charger and its LED first, then try a power drain — battery out where removable, hold the power button thirty seconds, mains only. A dead charger and a latched power state account for most of these, and both cost nothing to rule out.

Prove the charger before anything else
Most chargers have an LED; if it is dark the charger is the suspect, not the laptop. Wiggle the cable near both ends while watching it — the failure is usually in the cable at a flex point rather than in the brick. Borrowing a known-good charger of the correct voltage and connector settles it in a minute.
Drain the residual power
Disconnect the charger, remove the battery if it comes out, and hold the power button down for thirty seconds. That discharges the board and clears a latched power state, which is a genuine and common cause of a machine that appears completely dead. Then try mains only, without the battery, before trying battery only.
Look for a single sign of life
A charging LED, a fan twitch, a keyboard backlight flicker — anything means power is partly reaching the board and the fault is downstream. Nothing at all, on a known-good charger after a drain, points at the DC jack, the charging circuit or a shorted rail, and that is bench work rather than something to keep retrying.
What the bench does next
Voltage at the DC jack, then the primary rails in sequence against the board schematic. A shorted component pulls a rail down and presents exactly as a dead machine. That is a chip-level repair rather than a replacement board, and it is usually a fraction of the cost people are quoted for a board swap.
Why won't my laptop turn on?
Could it just be the battery?
A completely dead battery can stop some laptops starting even on mains, though most will run without one. Try mains with the battery removed if it is removable. If it starts, you have a battery fault rather than a machine fault, which is a much cheaper outcome.
The charger light is on but nothing happens. Now what?
That narrows it usefully — power is reaching the charger but not getting through the laptop. Suspects are the DC jack, which takes physical stress and cracks its solder joints, and the charging circuit on the board. Both are bench diagnosis at PKR 1,500, deducted from the repair if you go ahead.
Is a dead laptop worth repairing?
Usually yes, because the common causes are cheap: a charger, a DC jack, or a single failed component on a power rail. It only stops being worth it when the board has multiple failed rails on an old low-end machine. We give you the repair figure alongside the replacement figure before any work.
