Gate and barrier automation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Gate automation puts a motor, safety sensors and a remote on an existing sliding or swing gate; a boom barrier does the same job for a car park entrance. A sliding gate motor fitted runs PKR 85,000 to 180,000 in Islamabad depending on leaf weight, and a boom barrier starts near PKR 150,000.

Weigh and inspect the gate first

Motor choice is a weight and width calculation, not a preference. We check the leaf weight, the track condition and whether the gate already binds when pushed by hand. Automating a gate that drags will burn the motor within a season, so sometimes the honest answer is to fix the track before spending anything on automation.

Foundation, motor and manual release

The motor sits on a cast plinth with the rack aligned along the leaf. Every installation gets a manual release key so the gate can be pushed open by hand when the power is out — on a society gate that is not optional, it is the difference between a working entrance and a blocked one during load-shedding.

Safety devices before convenience devices

Photocell beams across the opening and an obstruction cut-out go in before any remote is paired. A gate heavy enough to move a car is heavy enough to injure a child, and the beams are what stop it closing on one. We do not fit a gate motor without them.

Remotes, loop and handover

Remotes are paired and labelled, a ground loop or free-exit sensor is set for cars leaving, and you get shown how to add a remote, clear one and use the manual release in the dark.

What the price covers. PKR 85,000 covers a sliding motor for a domestic gate up to roughly 600kg with beams, manual release and four remotes. Society and commercial gates over a tonne need a heavier motor and land between PKR 140,000 and 180,000. Boom barriers for a car park start near PKR 150,000 and rise with arm length and cycle rate.

Questions people ask

The power is out and the gate is shut. Can I get my car out?

Yes — every gate we automate gets a manual release key, and we show you how to use it before we leave, including in the dark. Any installer who fits a gate motor without a working manual release has left you with an entrance that stops being an entrance every time the grid does.

Can it open from my phone instead of a remote?

It can, through a GSM or WiFi module, and for a household with more drivers than remotes it is worth it. For a society gate we usually advise against relying on it alone: phone control depends on signal and on someone's battery, so it should sit alongside remotes and the guard's button rather than replace them.

Will it work on my existing gate or do I need a new one?

Most existing gates automate fine. What stops a job is a leaf that already binds, a bent track, or a swing gate on failing hinges — a motor makes all three worse and fails early. We tell you at the survey which repairs come first, and they are usually a fraction of the automation cost.
