Locked out of the recorder
A manufacturer reset is the way back in: most brands issue a temporary code generated from the recorder's serial number and its on-screen date through their support channel, and newer firmware adds security questions or an app-based reset. Expect to show proof of ownership — no honest installer bypasses a lock without it.

Step 1: try the built-in recovery
On the login screen look for a forgot-password option. Firmware from recent years offers security questions set during first configuration, a reset link to the registered email, or a QR-code reset through the manufacturer's app. If the system was commissioned properly, one of these gets you in within minutes, with nothing lost and nobody else involved.
Step 2: request a serial-based reset code
Failing that, the manufacturer's support channel generates a temporary super-code from the device serial and the exact date the recorder shows. The code only works that day. You will need proof of purchase or ownership, which is reasonable — the same door should not open for whoever carries the box out of a shop. We handle this process for clients regularly.
Step 3: hardware reset only as a last resort
Some boards carry a physical reset that wipes all settings, and on certain models the recording configuration with them. Use it last, not first, and export any footage that matters beforehand, because a wrong move here costs more than the lock did. Record the new password somewhere that is not only the phone app once you are back in.
