Fault-finding
A CCTV cable has been cut or chewed
Rodents above false ceilings and roller shutters closing on a badly routed run cause most damaged CCTV cables in Islamabad and Rawalpindi buildings. The affected camera drops to video loss at the recorder. A short run is usually cheaper to replace outright; a long run with accessible damage takes a proper housed joint.

Confirm the cable is actually at fault
Video loss on one channel while the rest run normally points at that camera's cable or power, not the recorder. Before opening walls, connect the camera to the recorder on a short test lead. If the picture returns, the run is the fault. If the camera stays dead on the bench too, the cable may be innocent and you have a camera or power-supply problem instead — a much cheaper discovery to make now than after re-cabling.
Look for the break where breaks happen
Cable rarely fails mid-span. Check where it enters the building, where a shutter closes across it, and inside ceiling voids, where rats chew through coax in older Rawalpindi blocks and I-9 industrial units alike. A fault that appeared after rain usually sits at the lowest outdoor joint, because monsoon water tracks along the cable and collects there. Walking the run with these three suspects in mind finds most breaks in minutes.
Joint it properly or pull a new run
Twisted conductors under insulation tape fail within a season of monsoon humidity. A crimped or soldered joint inside a sealed weatherproof enclosure lasts for years; on runs under roughly twenty metres, pulling fresh cable through the existing conduit is often quicker and cheaper than a careful repair. If the cut was deliberate, re-route through conduit entering the wall directly behind the camera so no reachable loop is left to grab. Our repair callout starts at PKR 3,000 and we price repair against replacement on the spot.
My CCTV cable is damaged — repair or replace?
Will one damaged cable affect the other cameras?
Not on a properly wired system — each camera runs its own cable back. When several fail together, look at a shared power supply, the switch or the recorder rather than any single cable.
Which is cheaper, repairing or replacing the run?
Short runs: replace. Long runs with accessible damage: a housed joint. We quote both on the visit — callout from PKR 3,000 anywhere in Islamabad and Rawalpindi — and tell you which we would pick.
Rather have it done?
Security camera repair covers black screens, recorders that stopped writing, lost phone access after an internet change, and footage that will not play back. Most faults trace to power, connectors or settings rather than a dead camera. Callout in Islamabad or Rawalpindi starts at PKR 3,000, with the full fix priced before any work.
